Chris came to us a few years ago.
I could spot potential in him straight away, the massive potential
not taken full advantage of by previous coaches. He had ability,
motivation, dedication and a drive to succeed. There was a few strange
coincidences when he first met us that left me thinking fate had
played its part. I wanted to make sure we did everything we could
to get him to an International competition one day.
With great style he continues to improve
and in 2011 he did manage to get onto the UK squad representing
his country at the world championships in Ligano. I am very very
happy for him, It was only a matter of time before he ended up representing
his country in one sport or another, i'm happy for UK Freediving
that it was for us :-)
Big things lie ahead me thinks, and
after a very solid world championships with distance and time left
in the bank we will be well represented for years to come.
Chris broke the UK DNF record with
a very solid 150m dive and less than one week later broke it again
at 163m. He also won the UK National DNF Pool championships on the
10th March 2012 and became the UK Pool champion on the 11th March
2012.
