London Freediving group.
At London Freediving, our philosophy is simple: you train with
your own routines at your own pace. No stressful drills, and no
'boot camp' regime. That doesn't mean we won't coach you if you
want to be coached, far from it. We just won't be shouting at you,
when all you want is calm.
We also respect your need for space, and with a full 33 metre pool
at our disposal, there's plenty of it. We cap our lanes to a maximum
of two buddy pairs. Our members are very friendly, and there will
always be someone on-hand to offer advice if you need it. We only
ask that if you haven't been freediving before, you take an introductory
course with us.
AIDA Certification Courses
Our instructors are able to offer training up to AIDA *** Freediver
level. There are 2 variations at each level - one that includes
pool and depth diciplines, and one that includes pool disciplines
only. For the depth disciplines we do not have a nearby facility,
so this does involve a weekend away at an open water dive centre.
Students will need to invest in the necessary equipment.
Non-Depth Freediving Introductory Course
This course is geared for students who may be waiting to arrange
their AIDA certification course, but wish to get started with weekly
pool training. The cost is £45. Included in the cost is pool
admission, and four hours tuition spread over two successive Thursday
evenings. The course outline consists of:
Overview of non-depth freediving disciplinesFreediving
physiologyStatic apnea theory and proceduresDynamic
apnea theory and proceduresSafety and rescue proceduresIn-water
practice of the above ( 2 hours in total )
Not included in the price, is equipment loan / rental, or drinks
/ refreshments. The equipment students are expected to bring are:
Fins ( Scuba or freediving )Mask or goggles ( Scuba,
freediving or swim )Wetsuit (3mm shorty as a minimum) Waterproof

Specialist / Tailor-made freediving courses
While a lot of us focus our training toward competing, there are
many other situations where freediving training can prove useful.
In these situations we tailor our courses to your exact needs. Here
are a few bespoke courses we have run in the past:
Techniques to assist Whale Shark tagging / photography
Filming Humpback Whales underwater without SCUBA
Techniques for actors and TV presenters involved in freediving
SCUBA divers wanting to improve air consumption
For more information on these, see below
If you have been freediving before, then the terms 'dynamic apnea'
and 'static apnea' will be familiar to you. London Freediving is
the club for you to hone your skills in either or both. Some of
our additional offerings that may interest you are video style analysis
and pre-session chill-out classes.
We are proudly affilliated to the British Freediving Association,
and compliant to international agency AIDA guidelines and practices.
Our certification courses are primarily AIDA-defined, although non-certification
speciality courses are also available.
If you want to know how to photograph dolphins underwater, we can
even teach that.
